ICT: Information and communications technology

We started this day with the last lecture about "Mother tongue" and this group showed us in the British council page on the Internet, a video about "Little Red Riding Hood" and it was so amazing. They said us that it is very important to pay attention and repeat the words and that a sack full of words could be the children motivation and it would be very nice. And also we don´t worry for the same answers in spanish by children because we have to repeat and repeat in english all time.

Then, the teacher said us what we have to study to pass the exam but that the most important thing was syllabus and the Diary. But to pass the exam we have to pay attention and review the European Sectiones, the Annex III, the presentations about the book of study but specially the three first chapters because are most important.

After that, we ralized an oral activity about how take advantage of the use of ICT in class, and they were our ideas:

  • Using the videogames, songs and videos about a specific topic to create a special atmosphere and cacth children attention. The teachers could realize their owns videos or create a videogame using tools like power point, youtube...
  • Making blogs to have closer realitionships with the family and share information with them.
  • Having a penfriends or using the Skype in class or in their houses.
  • To creat card Christmas or another kind of cards.
  • Coevaluation with recordings about their pronunciation and practice in a class to check their mistakes.
Finally, we talked about the ASSESSMENT for our Syllabus.
The teacher told us to differentiate among teacher evaluation, students evaluation, process of evaluation and schools evaluation ( internal-staff, external-diagnostic, minister, institutions, goverment).
Then we saw a document with an assessment for the end of the course and we could note the different ways to evaluate with different marks for instance:
  • She /he understands the general information about... and then marks like: NEVER DOES, SELDOM DOES, DONE PARTELY, DONE IN A VERY GOOD WAY, and then the Total amount.
The information about the assessment was very useful to develop this point of our syllabus.

WRITING IN ENGLISH

I think it was the best lecture about the book "English for Primary Teachers" although all presentations are very important for develop our syllabus so it was very interesting pay attention.

Children enjoy themselves writing with colours and working in pairs, so we have to exploit resouces like this. As a teacher, we also have to help them at the beginning write about people, so the main ideas to descibe people and then we will teach them to write more complicated essays with a simple structure.
This group realize several activities about how carry out this topic in class:

  • Having fun making a book in class all together. They can make up a little sentence and then other classmate continues with the story, or making a paragraph each day and realize one story for month.
  • Writing with penfriends. It is a very good idea to improve the writing.
  • "Gafa party" What color is it?". to work the colors in a funny way for children.
  • The typical word game to work with a specific letter all kind of things like: place, color, food, clothes and so on.
  • Describe the teacher aloud but not physically. (We did it in class)
But the most fantastic game was: "What word is it?".
They had a sheet of paper with different shapes like a circles, stars ans squares, each shape contained one word like: definition, picture, sentence, synonym, antonym, suffixes, part of speech, related words.
This kind of activity serves children to learn consciously each new word, and not only pay attention in the word, but that mens this word and its application in other kinds of situations.

EXPOSURES and SYLLABUS

This day before the class realized three interesting exposures.
Firstly, one about Unit 2 of book of study: "Listen and do" with activities as "Saymon says", secondly my group and myself showed our own exposure about Organization staff and finally other group showed the Unit 3 of book of study: " Listen and make" with activities as greating cards, posters to put on walls, making drawings and so on.

In this day of 25th October, another group realized a presentation about "Speaking english with supports".
Then whole class worked with the teacher the general parts that a syllabus must contain:

  • context (school, students, main ideas, problems with students)
  • objectives
  • contents
  • unless six or eight Units or projects using CLIL, only giving the main ideas and lines that we need to teach the Units) and only develop one!
Then we started to develop how we can do well each point:

  • Objectives: what we want to develop competences: generals, specifics. Capacities is worked with the competences and isn´t mind the order because in all schools are different. And also relationship between objects and competences.
  • Contents: what you choose for your cycle, it may be so interesting and based in Decree 68/07
  • Methodology: we can use different methodologies with communicative approaches. If your method is brilliant you can develop perfectly a second language in the schools like French also, and foster a motivate learning. ORAL EXPRESSIONS are very important. Teachers take the notebooks everyday to correct the mistakes. But the most improtant thing is to catch children attentions so not only use the class in your activities beacuse it will be boring.
  • Evaluation: a good evaluation is the base for the perfect teaching. There are two different evaluations: external and internal.

ANNEX III

In this day, whole class read in silence the Annex III in page fifty two of Decree 68/07 that is the same for Infant and Primary Education. This is one of the reaosns because this part of the Decree is so important. It contains key information for the school performance and these reflexions are very interesting to make decisions.
The Annex III is divided into five points:

  1. Educative Project
  2. Didactic Programm (syllabus)
  3. Tutoring
  4. Extracurricular activities
  5. Organization staff

Then in groups of five or six (or the same group for the syllabus) studied in accurate way the first point about the Annex III and made a brief summary about it.
Theses are our remarks:

The Educative project purposes improve the quality of education and is reviewed each year for this. It also includes important aspects such as:

  • Diversity atentions
  • Characteristics
  • Colaboration and cooperation among different educative institutions
  • Internal assessment
Then all clase read aloud our comments tu put in common and we reached a conclusion:
The Educative Project includes a different identity for each schools so it is a declaration of intents of school to work in a clear path.
For realize the Educative project you need extra time and not aal schools dedicate a enought time to make this creative document.
And also we spoke about our thoughts in this topic:
The school is a little family, but in Infant school the relationship between teachers are closer, they act together and cooperate in projetcs and objectives, but in Primary only they do that in specific moments and in Secunday school less becouse they only follow the books.

Finally the teacher told us her experience in Sonseca, and she said that she felt very well there. And she said us that we have to be aware that our job is to be a good teachers, excellent tachers!

DIDACTIC PROGRAMME

At first we talked about the task the day before. In conlusion, the most important difference between the Royal Decree 1513/06 and Decree 68/07 of Primary Education, is the disposition of the blocks of contents.
Then, the teacher said us, that we should pay attention to Decree 68/07 because we going to follow this law which speaks about our Autonomous Community.

After that, the teacher talked about her work experiences. She is an Inspector of Education and she told us that she prefers go to the schools for surprise because sometimes she finds wonderful things and good teachers. Nowadays, this situation is more usual than before, maybe for the bad situation we are living in Education in Spain right now.

Besides, the teacher showed us a page called PDC Generator 2.0. This page is used to make Didactic Programmings and the other things related with school organization.
So we going to do a Didactic Programming in groups about five or six people. In this way we chose our group and started to see the page more quietly.

ROYAL DECREE 1513/06 AND DECREE 68/2007

We began with laws of Infant School.
In the Royal Decree 1630/06 and Decree 67/2007 the foreign language doesn´t appear individually, but inside of lenguage content. Besides, in 1990 with LOGSE the foreign language will be taught in the second cycle of Infant School, because until then the foreign language was taught only in the third cycle of Primary School.
Moreover, these laws speak about the relationship between the tutor and english teacher to prepare the Didactic Program. However, this situation doesn´t happen.

Then, we started with laws of Primary Education.
We studied the preamble of foreign language in the Royal Decree 1513/06 and this is that I have learnt about it.
  • We have to prepare pupils for the knowledge in other languages, because the new communications have improved and with this the international communications.
  • In the school, the foreign language doesn´t study a lot, so it should be taught in different environments proper to the age of the children.

Then we did this task in our house:
To compare the Royal Decree 1516/2006 and the Decree 68/2007 in relation to the Foreign language subject. Write an brief essay about the differences you'll find in between them
In these laws we can find three big differences. Now, I´m going to explain them.
The first and biggest difference is in the introduction. In the Royal Decree, we can see a preamble, the name of the different contents and the relationship between the foreign language and the basic skills. However, the Decree begins whit the aims directly.
The second difference is in the contents. The Royal Decree has four blocks of content and the Decree only two. This is because blocks three and four of Royal Decree are distributed equally in blocks one and two of Decree.
And the third and very important difference is in the third cycle of Decree. Here appears the possibility to study a second foreign language with the same general aims and criteria evaluation of second cycle of Primary. We can see too, in the Decree, that the criteria evaluation always has its last criterion about European sections.

Moreover, we discussed about the study of the foreign language in other countries and some classmates told us their erasmus expereiences and we realized that we have a really low nivel in a foreign language.
In this way I wrote the teacher said:
"If you teach the same, always recives the same".
"If you don´t like this situation don´t repeat it in your work like a teacher because it´s a great mistake".

WE STUDY THE L.O.E (Organic Law of Education)

We studied the contents of Preamble in pairs.
The teacher told us that the Preamble it´s the best of the law. It is very interesting and we should read it.

http://planipolis.iiep.unesco.org/upload/Spain/Spain_LOE_eng.pdf

Then, we did this activity in groups for homework:

ORGANIC LAW OF EDUCATION

How many titles are there in the Organic Law of Education?
How many chapters per title are there?
Read the Preamble. Do you find it interesting? Summarize the content in a few words.
What are the principles in which the Spanish Education System is inspired?
And the aims?
Is any chapter devoted to the curriculum?
How is the Education organized? In which Title can you find it?
Summarize Infant Education/ Primary Education (Title? Chapter?)
